{fire truck}
How long is the typical fire hose? Also, how tall is the typical ladder on a fire truck?

Any information you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Most hose come in 50 foot sections. Then, they get put together to go anywhere from 100 to 1000 feet.

On our engines we use crosslays which are 200 foot each, a front bumper trash lane which is 150 feet, and a second trash line which is 100 foot. Off of the back of the truck we have supply hose which is connected up to 1000 foot. We pull off what we need and disconnect it there.

For ground ladders we have 10, 14, 24 and 35 foot ladders. Our aerial truck is 70 feet.

{fire station}
How many days does a paramedic spend at the fire station?

I am not sure if I want to be a nurse or a paramedic, but I also want to spend a lot of time with my family. So what do you think is better?

It depends on the service. A service may do of the following 8,9,10,12, 16, 24,48,72 hour shifts. It is usually 40-72 hours a week. Again, it depends on the service.

{fire hose
I was just attacked by a man wearing a richard nixon mask and he was weilding a fire hose?

He was yelling “I am not a crook” then he shook his head like that guy from Star Wars who was a JarJarBinks guy.

And to this day some Boston residents claim you can still smell the molasses on hot summer days.

{firefighter}
What do I need to do to become a firefighter in the Los Angeles area?

I am a recent high school graduate and I have always wanted to become a firefighter. But I have no idea what to do in order to become one. So what is it that I have to do? Where can I get training for this?

For LAFD you’ll need to be 18 and a high school graduate, a non-smoker, eyes can’t be too bad.
You’ll need to have or be able to get a CA driver’s license, and be prepared to pass the CPAT (the physical test) as well as interviews.
Most departments in the area will be similar. Look online to see which tests are coming up and apply to all.
You can make yourself a better candidate by taking fire science classes and getting your EMT certification.
The process is long and competitive.

{fdny}
Does the FDNY have a running club?

I know the NYPD has one, but I have not seen one for the FDNY. If anyone has any information it would be appreciated.

I managed to find an article about the NYPD and FDNY annual 5 mile race in central park, see the attached link, but I can’t find anything about a FDNY Running club.
They may have one, but it may not have a web site.
Hope this helps.

{firemans pole}
Survey for the ladies have you ever slid down a firemans pole?

to define a pole as in the one the fireman slide down when they get called to an emergency

I find they are just not slippery enough.
